Mission & Values

Living Grace Homes provides a safe environment, programs and support for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of homeless, pregnant and parenting young women.

Founded in 2007 by a hardworking board of directors led by Kathleen Miller, Living Grace Homes is a nonprofit organization recognized as an indispensable program in Clark County, Nevada. Providing a safe haven for young, pregnant, homeless women between the ages of 14-24, LGH provides food, shelter, transportation, guidance and education.

In 2014, Phase II opened as a continuation of support and guidance especially with parenting skills, while they complete school and get a job. Our Phase II moms fall into three categories. These young moms have not yet finished high school, have no work skills, or are in the process of a reunification plan. This home provides a stable environment as young women that have little support are able to complete their case plans. Phase II provides the opportunity for young women to make the changes necessary for long-term success, as they are able to stay as long as necessary to accomplish their goals.

Phase III mission is to help young mothers who are survivors of homelessness, sex trafficking and others with similar biological needs become employable and self-sufficient. An even more long-term program than Phase II, Phase III will offer work, education, and housing opportunities beyond the scope of the current two programs.

Our Focus

Education

A high school education is essential to avoiding a lifetime of poverty.  Only 30% of LGH residents come with their diploma or GED. One of the top priorities for new residents is ensuring that they are able to achieve their GED or diploma.

Healthcare

Although LGH residents need obstetric care immediately, our staff and volunteers assist residents in attaining medical care in all areas, including mental health, vision, dental, pediatric care for their children, and general medical care once they have their babies.

Community

Community is the family that goes beyond family. LGH residents create a community within their fellow residents and the staff and volunteers, but also learn how to interact with the Henderson community, as they live, work, and participate in our city.

Legal

LGH residents quite frequently come from backgrounds where they have had legal issues, either as a result of their background, or of their own doing. The first step for our residents is to ensure that they have legal issues addressed so they can focus on the important steps they need to take in changing their lives.

Transportation

Lack of reliable transportation is a challenge for LGH residents both before and after they have their babies. LGH provides transportation to essential appointments, including healthcare, legal,  and social service appointments, registering for school (but not back and forth to school) and to job interviews (but not back and forth to work.)

Housing

LGH residents come from various backgrounds, but nearly all residents come from a background of housing instability.  LGH collaborates with residents to ensure long-term housing stability, either through rental on their own or transitional housing programs.
