Stories of Transformation

“I came to Living Grace Homes when I had no home and a six-month-old baby. Stephanie picked me up and gave me a safe place to stay. Living Grace Homes helped me recover my belongings and provided the support I needed during an overwhelming time.

Before coming to Living Grace Homes, I couldn’t return to school because I was constantly managing doctor appointments, working job to job, and caring for my son without support. With their help, I secured Social Security benefits, found nursing care for my son, and was able to go back to school and finish high school, something I never thought was possible.

My son, Karter, has cerebral palsy and was medically fragile as a baby. Kathleen and Stephanie were my base of support and often accompanied me to appointments and stayed with us in the hospital. One night, when my son was hospitalized and I had no food and no one with me, Stephanie stayed by my side all night. That was the first time I experienced someone truly being there for us.

Today, I live independently, have my own apartment, and am raising my children with confidence. My son is now in school and continues to make progress every day. Living Grace Homes gave me the confidence to be a mom and believe in what’s possible for our future.”

“Living Grace Homes helped me build important skills that I still use today. They offered me therapy, which helped me communicate better with my partner and others. They also helped me enroll in a GED program and made sure I had proper medical care during my pregnancy.

My daughter, Kaylinn, was born a few months after I moved into my own apartment. Since then, my life has continued to move forward. I married my child’s father, and we are now living together in our own home.

Living on my own now is great, and I am proud of how far I’ve come. The support I received at Living Grace Homes gave me the foundation I needed to build a stable and healthy future for my family.”

“My journey with Living Grace Homes began when I was pregnant with my second son and found myself stranded in the cold, desperately searching for shelter. During that frightening time, a compassionate family friend introduced me to Living Grace Homes, and that connection changed my life.

Living Grace Homes welcomed me with open arms. They provided a safe, warm place to stay and surrounded me with a supportive community that truly felt like family. With their help, I was able to find stable housing and begin rebuilding relationships within my own family that had been broken.

During my time at Living Grace Homes, I learned essential life skills, including how to manage a household and save money for the future. With their guidance and encouragement, I was able to secure an apartment with my husband and move forward with confidence.

Living Grace Homes continued to be a guiding presence in my life for more than a decade. I am deeply grateful for the role they played in shaping me into a resilient and empowered woman. Their commitment to providing shelter, guidance, and resources to young mothers has left a lasting impact on my heart and my future.”

“At nineteen years old, I was pregnant, alone, and had nowhere to turn. After standing up for my mother during a family conflict, I was kicked out of my home. Shortly after, I discovered I was pregnant. The relationship was toxic, the father disappeared, and my family gave me an ultimatum: abort my baby and return to school, or keep my baby and lose everything. I chose my child—and I lost everything.

When I was taken to what I thought was an abortion clinic, I met someone who truly saw me. She looked at me and said, ‘You look like you don’t want to do this.’ She handed me a card with the name Living Grace Homes and Kathleen Miller’s phone number. Late one rainy night, I made the call, and Kathleen picked me up herself. I left behind fear, judgment, and rejection and entered a place filled with grace, compassion, and hope.

Living Grace Homes gave me shelter, safety, and support during the most vulnerable season of my life. They walked beside me through my pregnancy and reminded me that I wasn’t a failure, that I wasn’t alone, and that I was capable of building a new life. Today, I am a fashion designer, the founder of TanadaCouture, and Miss Las Vegas 2016. More importantly, I am the mother of a bright, beautiful child who inspires me every day. Living Grace Homes believed in me when I could not believe in myself—and that belief changed everything.”

“When I came to Living Grace Homes, I had no one. I was staying with a friend who could no longer afford to help me, and I was pregnant, scared, and alone. When I reached out for help, I was told many shelters couldn’t take me because of my age—but Living Grace Homes showed compassion and made a way for me.

Living Grace Homes gave me a safe place to stay and supported me in practical ways every day. They took me to my doctor’s appointments, provided opportunities for me to work and earn income, and encouraged me to believe in myself. With their support, I began learning to drive, finding work, and imagining a future I couldn’t see before.

Today, I have my own car, my own job, and soon, my own home. My baby is thriving, and I know I will never be alone again—because Living Grace Homes will always be my family.”
